Dr. Mell Gutarra is a compassionate and caring rheumatologist, with a board certification in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.

Dr. Gutarra decided to pursue a Rheumatology fellowship after his Internal Medicine training due to the challenge the specialty presents. It is one of the last pure clinical fields in medicine relying on a good clinical history and physical exam of the patient. Rheumatology is a filed that allows the physician to see and evaluate compolex cases in patients who may have been waiting for a diagnosis for years and providing long awaited answers for them. "Above all, it allows me to provide relief to one of the most common but insidious complaints... chronic pain."

I have confidence in Dr. Gutarra's interest in my health. It's just the system set up by the Providence Medical Partners makes contacting the office or doctor difficult.

Dr. Guttara recommended infusion treatments at Sierra Providence East, and it has helped.me tremendously. I can now walk without shuffling and no pain. However, recently there was an issue with my next scheduled infusion treatment as the Drs orders had expired. Getting the orders re-issued turned in a fiasco. Certainly the infusion center should have noticed the expired orders sooner and called me sooner than the afternoon before my scheduled appointment as it is so hard to get to Dr Gutarra. His best assistant left last year, her replacement left sometime this spring. i dont know if he has a PA or NP right now. Anyway, I finally waited for my appointment to ask Dr. Guttara in person to help me get the infusion setup. He said the paperwork had been sent; I informed him that it specified the wrong medicine, (the infusion center called me with information) he looked at my records and corrected the orders. today I had my infusion treatment, but only after my attending nurse left the center and walked over to Gutarra's office telling him to please correct my name and birth date on the orders as they were backward. Without her extra effort I would have had to reschedule. Woah! Dr Gutarra has greatly improved my heatth, it's just the constant turnover and errors that drive me crazy.
